REGION - Berru, France

During the First World War the vineyards of Berru were totally devastated. After the second-world war Jacques Picard decided to replant his vineyards. The vineyards were replanted with 70% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier and 10% Pinot Noir. Champagne Jacques Picard remains up to now the only estate bottled Champagne in the village of Berru. Jacques Picard’s estate is located in the three different villages: Berru, Montbre and a small parcel in Avenay Val d’Or. The estate covers some 17ha. Thanks to the geological similarities, that is to say the presence of limestone and clay, the area of Berru can be considered as part of Montagne de Reims.
