THE OTHER SIDE 2010 Single Vineyard Shiraz

Fourth generation winemaker Chester Osborn was in Venice when this block was purchased. The land nearby has a spring-fed dam providing an abundance of water and inspiring its name. The nose is open and full of succulent jube like fruits and rich dark liquorice. The palate is also rich and dense. More generous fruits but with an additional layer of purple, plummy notes and even the faint hint of crushed ants. All this fruitiness comes shot with peppery and rusty spice notes, further broadening the spectrum of flavours. Tannins are always a feature of this wine, 2012 is no exception. Firm, robust tannins impose themselves on the mid-palate and continue to grow through the length of the wine but are supported seemingly effortlessly by the generous fruit. A big wine which, despite its openness, is bound to impress further with time.
